Casino Glossary

The terms you will meet at crypto casinos, explained in plain English.

Rakeback
A share of the house edge on your bets that a casino pays back to you, whether you win or lose. It is based on how much you wager, not on your net result. Rakeback calculator.
Cashback
A refund of part of your net losses over a period, such as a day or a week. Unlike rakeback it only pays out when you lose.
Wagering requirement
The number of times you must bet a bonus, and sometimes the deposit as well, before the bonus and its winnings can be withdrawn. Also called playthrough or turnover. Bonus calculator.
House edge
The average share of every bet that the casino keeps over time. A 2% house edge means the casino expects to keep 2 units for every 100 wagered.
RTP (return to player)
The share of all wagers a game pays back to players on average over a very large number of bets. It is the opposite of the house edge: 96% RTP means a 4% house edge.
Provably fair
A system where the casino commits to random seeds before a round so you can verify afterwards that the outcome was not changed. It proves the result was fair, not that you will win.
KYC (know your customer)
Identity verification, usually a photo ID and proof of address, that regulated businesses use to prevent fraud and money laundering. Some crypto casinos ask for it only above certain withdrawal limits.
No KYC casino
A casino that lets you sign up, deposit and often withdraw without submitting identity documents. Rules vary, and checks can still apply in some cases.
Volatility
How widely a game's results swing. High-volatility games pay less often but can pay more, while low-volatility games pay small amounts more regularly.
Stablecoin
A cryptocurrency designed to track a fiat currency, most often the US dollar. Tether (USDT) and USDC are common examples, and they let you play without price swings in your balance.
Confirmations
The number of blocks added on top of your transaction on the blockchain. Casinos usually wait for a set number before crediting a deposit.
Network fee
The fee you pay the blockchain network to process a transaction. It is set by the network, not by the casino, and changes with how busy the network is.
VIP program
A tiered rewards scheme that raises benefits such as rakeback, bonuses and support as your wagering grows.
Maximum bet
The largest single bet allowed while a bonus is active. Exceeding it can void the bonus and any winnings from it.
